Our community began in 1863, when it was organized as a plantation from Township Number 2, Third Range West of the Easterly Line of the State (T2 R3 WELS). A few years later, Glenwood was incorporated as a town on February 14, 1867. That municipal organization was brief, however, as the community surrendered its town status and went extinct as a town in 1868.
