Who we are

Aroostook.com is an online guide to Aroostook County, Maine, run by Visual Heights Internet Technologies (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Aroostook.com website.

Information you give us

We collect personal information only when you choose to send it to us:

• Sponsorship requests. Your name, email address and phone number; your business or organization name and website; your business and billing addresses; any logo and message you send; and how you plan to pay.
• Messages. Anything you send us by email or phone.
• Other forms. If we add other forms, for example to submit an event or join a mailing list, we will say what each one is for where you fill it in.

Information collected automatically

• Like most websites, our server keeps logs. They include your IP address, the pages you asked for, the date and time, and your browser type. We use them to keep the site secure and working.
• Our forms use a small cookie so the form can tell that a submission is genuine. It is not used to follow you around the web.
• We may use analytics tools to learn how the site is used, such as which pages are read and how people find us. These tools do not identify you by name.

How we use your information

• To handle sponsorship requests and payments, and to contact you about your sponsorship, including its renewal.
• To keep records of sponsorships and payments.
• To protect the site and to improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Payments

Payments are made by credit card through Square, from an invoice we email you. We never see or store your card number: Square handles it. We record that a payment was made and its reference, not your card details.

Other services the site uses

• Google Fonts. Your browser loads our type styles from Google, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
• Google Maps. Community pages may show a map from Google.
• National Weather Service. Forecasts come from the National Weather Service. Our server fetches them, so your details are not sent to the Weather Service.
• Email. We may use an email delivery service to send messages you ask for.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

Who sees your information

Only us, and the companies that help us run the site (for example hosting, email and payment providers). We may also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep sponsorship records for as long as we need them to run the sponsorship and to meet our accounting and tax duties. Server logs are kept for a limited time.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. We may need to keep some records, for example payment records, as the law requires. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version on this page and update the date below.
